Best in whose eyes anyway? I guess now, Amercan produced films need to up their act, if they can't make films as well, or as deserving as a foreign language film, that only film snobs will care about. All movies need to up their act, there's a lot of mediocre and bad ones out there and some of them are even nominated, but one picture out of 9 hardly constitutes a foreign film uprising. A foreign film has been nominated 9 previous times, I wonder if people are just thinking they were just honorary nominations? Many are made to formula and that can be frustrating at times, especially if integrity can be lacking. The past year, I can’t say that I can personally complain too much though. The crap ones I saw, I didn’t have much expectation from them anyway.
