You are often deriding American productions. Was your favourite American film one of the nominees? Supporting the Academy’s disloyalty to its own industry. I often deride films if they are not very good. Doesn't matter where they come from. My favourite film this year was The Lighthouse - an American film that was nominated for an Oscar. As for disloyalty - I'm sure the Academy are going to be fine no matter what my opinions are. As I often deride foreign language films, not because they don’t look good-good is too much of an opened ended and generic term-but because they rarely look appealing to me. I used to be like you and would patronise others when they complained to me about having to read subtitles. I wouldn’t mind seeing The Lighthouse, but I doubt many would as it looks arty farty.
