2010 is a surprisingly good, though completely unnecessary follow-up to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Yes, it attempted to answer something that perhaps didn't need answering, but I still have a soft spot for 2010 and much of this is due to the awe-inspiring technical presentation at the time and the film had more warmth than 2001. I went into Ad Astra wanting a similar feeling like 2010 invokes in me, but while visually stunning, it didn't connect with me so much on an emotional level.
