Back when Black Widow was first introduced in Iron Man 2, I didn't much care for her. Sure, she was pretty, but I found her character rather uninteresting overall and, dare I say, a tad generic. The Avengers didn't change my opinion on her. Then I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That movie finally gave her character some proper development and she proved an effective and likable sidekick for Steve Rogers in his fight against Hydra. I've warmed to the character as a result of this. That said, she's basically a Robin-type figure - works well in a supporting role but I'm not terribly enthusiastic about her playing the lead role. I still hope the upcoming movie will prove my concerns misguided.
