For me what's puzzling is if ever a time to reward him where possible that was the moment with how big a juggernaut that movie was. I get what you are saying, but that would be a matter of career recognition more than nominating the performance based on the merit of the performance. The same argument could be made for Sean Connery that same year, but his performance is far more memorable imo. I legimately thought O'Toole was sublime, not my win by any means but would nominate him at least as well.
