I am one who thinks Freeman is overrated in Street Smart. I don't fully buy him as the character he is playing. I don't even remember Martin Sheen's performance. I am completely on board with D'Onofrio, Ermey (obviously) and John Lone. 1987 was a very good year for supporting performances. D'onofrio is an interesting case as an actor, has credibility but perhaps a bit difficult at times to work with as well?. I haven't heard he is difficult to work with, but maybe he is. Check out The Whole Wide World (1996) and The Salton Sea, if you haven't seen them. In the former he plays the writer of Conan the Barbarian and in the latter he plays a coke dealer that used so much of his own supply that he is missing his nose in the creepiest performance of his career.
