Diana Serra Cary, known as Baby Peggy, the last surviving star of the silent era, passed away today at the age of 101. As a child star in the 1920s, she was the highest paid actor or actress in Hollywood. She retired from acting in 1938 and with great tenacity and resilience later turned to writing and publishing. In 2012 she was the subject of the excellent documentary, Baby Peggy: The Elephant in the Room.
