In context of the discussion Genghis Khan is forgettable. He left little lasting impact on the people he conquered. His religion wasn't embraced by the conquered And he had no system of writing or philosophy or literature to impact future generations. In retrospect he didn't amount to much.

As for the Aztecs, neighboring tribes who had been subjugated by them fared much better under the Spanish. And the Spanish ended the bloody human sacrifices of those ignorant Aztec barbarians. And we got the wonderful Mexican culture of today, a harmonic blend of Spanish and indigenous.

History is a history of conquests. One people will invade and conquer another. The American Indians did the same to each other. Do you really think an entire hemisphere could be left to stone age tribes of barbarians with no concept of technology, nor written literature, nor human rights?
