The year 1994 is an odd dividing line to decide when American movies were suddenly awful. Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, True Lies, Speed, Lion King, Serial Mom, The Client, The Professional, Dumb and Dumber, The Last Seduction: among the best movies in one of the best movie years in my lifetime. Yes, I left Forrest Gump off on purpose. As for what does or doesn't get shown in China, I'm glad the theatrical cut of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stayed intact, causing it not to be shown in China. Inspite of having Chinese co-producers.
