God knows why I am wide awake at 3 in the morning 🤷♀️ Gotta do something, so I'm checking out some supermarket interwebs for some vegan friendly reds to try this week. A few questions... 1) What are people's thoughts on wines called 'red wine', made from a mixture of grape varieties? I've avoided them so far, and stuck with single grape or two variety blends. 2) Why is this Chateauneuf du Pape wine twice the price of other reds? Why is it so special? Is it worth it? 3) Any variety recommendations? 1) Dunno. Maybe it's like blended whisky and single malts? There are a few decent blended whiskies, so ... 2) Just supply and demand I suppose. I used to buy it. It's OK but not worth the price they're selling it for now. 3) Not varieties, but regions - have you tried a Valpolicella or a Rioja yet. Usually decent quality. Dao is another one. I like Riojas, not tried anything from Valpolicella... will keep an eye out for it.
