@thegodfatherpartii Key word = 'critics' I tend to give more weight to what the wide public thinks since they ultimately determine the true gems/classics from everything else. because a lot of critics praise movies that are largely forgotten not all that long after they are released with stuff in the Oscars etc. or a decent example of this is plays into what rudeboy said, "I do appreciate its[There Will Be Blood (2007)] reputation but I could probably name a couple of hundred films from the century so far which I prefer." because what a person ultimately enjoys watching the most is what's truly worth the most (which is what I think rudeboy basically commented on there). ranking any other way makes no sense at the end of the day. because like I always say a persons enjoyment of a movie, which generally comes back to ones emotional response in one form or another, is paramount. but I have a feeling critics in general do no judge movies by their own personal enjoyment but try to guess what others might think etc etc. I would rather have them judge it by how much they personally enjoy it as then they at least would be honest etc etc.
