I think the general population things of the two of them simply as movie stars. Attractive and charming, but not actors with much range. He even has range within his crazy performances. Twelve Monkeys and Kalifornia and Fight Club are 3 performances that are nothing alike imo. My point is most people haven't seen the movies where Brad Pitt shows off his range and think of him as more of a leading man type.
