Well... it would only make sense to assume that if the teams in your division aren't able to be any other teams despite the fact that they've beaten you once or twice that season, they won't be much competition for the division title. I used the Browns and Ravens in 2019 as an example and I will use it again. Browns went 6-10 and Ravens went 14-2. Browns went 1-1 against the Ravens. Were the Ravens in danger of losing the division to the Browns?

In a previous post I pointed out how many seasons the Patriots had half of their losses to division foes. That helped them get the bye?

Now we're talking about what helps the Patriots get the bye? Well then I guess an answer I can give for that is they get the bye because either two or three of the other division winners weren't able to win enough or win the right games to get the bye or keep the Patriots from getting it.

Still waiting for your explanation as to how the division helps them when the Patriots beat everyone in the NFL at the same rate.

If you go by wins, the Patriots have actually had the HARDEST division the past 12 years, because the teams that don't win the AFC East have combined for the most wins over the last 12 years.

Look for yourself (I know you won't.) Count up the MiamiNJYBuffalo wins for the past 12 years. Compare that with the win totals of all the other non-division winners for each division, for each year.

Because, like you said, I didn't see it.

The numbers don't lie. The other AFC East teams win more than other non-divisional winners in the NFL. I guess their ability to remain consistently mediocre will do that. While most teams in the NFL go from being really good to really fucking terrible in a year to year basis, the AFC East teams outside of the Patriots like to just do enough not to be completely garbage, while at the same time refusing to actually be any good for the majority of the decade.
