Mentioned before that the Cam release was coming because without physicals there is no way of knowing where he is health wise. Draft choices are too precious to trade in such a gamble. Plus you'd take on his salary.
A smart team will sign him on the cheap to a 1 year deal and let him heal himself up in a backup type of role and when he's healthy get some playing time to ensure people of that health. Then let him hit free agency next year and get paid a big enough contract and said teams gets a pretty nice compensation pick out of it.
Smart teams that immediately come to mind are the Patriots, Packers, Ravens, Steelers.
I think it's a long shot for GB to do it. This seems like a prime Patriots type of move. Cam could be an ideal back up for Lamar in Baltimore for a year. I do think the Steelers make the most sense though. You can't count on Ben to be healthy all season and when he goes down they are screwed at QB. Let Cam backup Ben until the eventual time Ben gets hurt and let Cam go right in there and prove whether or not he's still got it. If so it helps them win now and then the Steelers can decide if he's your next QB after Ben or let him leave in FA and get that comp pick.
