After decades of viewing and loving this amazing film it's still the one I can't NOT watch when it shows up on TV! And like OldAussie , I also got to see it on the big screen a couple of years ago, which was a real treat even though it was in the digital format.
Thanks for the great comments and for the note about Lotte Palfi Andor. As I recall, with the exception of Bogart and maybe one other actor whose name I can't recall, all cast members were either emigrants or war refugees. I think that adds a lot of emotional power and credibility to the film.
To this day, the Writers Guild of America still considers Casablanca to be the best American screenplay of all time. Pretty amazing for a script that was a work in progress during most of the shooting.
