That's another little thing I watch for in movies. Fake winter. You can tell if it's really in winter because you can see the actor's breath. I realize that older Hollywood productions didn't film outside in the snow (Battleground being a good example). But many modern movies/TV shows use fake winter. Early Bame of Thrones.
Might be nitpicking, but, when you live ina place with a lot of winter, you notice these things more
Though filmed mostly on a sound stage, I really got the feel of winter in Battleground. The breathe steam is missing, but an excess of it would be distracting to watch. Battleground was a very accurate movie, if I remember. That was the days when Hollywood could push out historical horrorshows like Santa Fe Trail
