In the mid-'50s, Tracy began to establish something of a pattern of dropping out of films on one pretext or another ( The High and the Mighty and Tribute To A Bad Man were also among them; he tried with Bad Day At Black Rock, but Dore Schary wouldn't let him off the hook). He was a LIB Prima Donna, like nasty bitch Katherine Hepburn. Actually, Spencer Tracy was very conservative but highly principled - a combination impossible to find these days.
