Yep, child kidnapping and child slavery is cheesy and misguided

Profit is relevant, it was the highest grossing film of 1984 (the 10th highest grossing film of all time at that time), and a PG13 at that, we are not talking about a film heavily reliant on CGI like the Transformer films and their ilk in the new millennium! It was a different era of film making, and funny enough it's easily the earliest film on your list of so called stinkers.

If your definition of a stinker is quite simply that you don't like something, in spite of the financial, rating and critical facts clearly stating otherwise, then that's obviously your prerogative, but I'm sorry but that's a misguided guideline if ever there was one.
