Writer Loring Mandel passed away at the age of 91 on March 24th. He began his career with great success in the early days of live television and went on to write TV movies and feature films, including Little Drummer Girl and Countdown. He also successfully adapted the novel, Advise and Consent, for Broadway two years before the film was made. A lauded writer, he won two Emmy Awards (out of five nominations), and three Writers Guild Awards. In 2004 he received the Guild's Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for lifetime contributions to television.
