While on the other hand I heartily unrecommend the most recent one I watched - The Cabin In The Woods - what an utter crock of shite, in perfectly indirect correlation to it's pretensions. I have no doubt there are barely post-pubescent twats out there who think it's "existential". No. Just no. I liked the character of the giant hand! I can't remember anything about it, other than the general smart-arsed tone, and how much I hated it. What probably made it worse is that it reminded me of Dollhouse, another Wheedon clusterfuck that I somehow forced myself to endure two entire series of. I eventually gave myself a stiff talking to and finally accepted that just because he made one good tv series many years ago doesn't mean that he defecates gold dust and rainbows. Well, duh.
