Captain Queeg's not a bad guy. Your homework is to watch that movie again.
I agree with you, that's why I have him listed as a tragic one. But the movie deliberately portrays him to be a villain even before the "strawberry incident", albeit a sympathetic one.
Queeg is an unlikable and flawed character but I think the movie makes it clear at the end that Fred MacMurray is the villain of this story.
