Revisionist take on the Shakespeare play with Daisy Ridley in the title role; Naomi Watts as Gertrude; Clive Owen as Claudius, and George MacKay as Hamlet. On paper, this probably sounded like a cool twist. And to its credit, the first twenty, thirty minutes aren't terrible.
But as the movie goes on it gets murkier and muddled. MacKay is a solid fit as Hamlet and Clive Owen is having fun hamming it up as Claudius. Unfortunately, Daisy Ridley is in rare poor form as Ophelia. I think someone else like Florence Pugh would had been better. 4/10. agree
