I have to respectfully disagree with you on that one.
I think that "The Fandom Menace" would have still attacked, insulted, criticized, disrespected, and hated it regardless of what happened in it.
I have said it before and I will say it again, JJ Abrams was really put in an impossible situation (because of Episode 8) with Episode 9.
I don't think it would have mattered at all what Abrams or Colin Trevorrow (or any other Director for that matter) would have done with Episode 9 mainly because that movement that calls itself "The Fandom Menace" had absolutely no intention of ever giving Episode 9 a fair chance regardless of who made it or what happened in it.
It's hard to make a Successful Movie when there is an Entire Movement of People out there that are 100 Percent Committed and Dedicated to intentionally sabotage it from being successful in any capacity, way, shape, or form regardless of what happens in it or who makes it.
Star Wars films are trashed by fans when they are garbage. The Sequel trilogy sucked. It is not due to toxic fandom. Is that why every Star Wars movie after ESB was trashed?
