Ironically, Madeline Smith feels that Hammer's association with AIP ruined it--that is, the inclusion of nudity and more explicit violence harmed their appeal to their traditional audience. And Anthony Hinds felt Hammer got too gory after he left but I think the earlier films were pushing the boundaries of sex and violence for the time.
I didn't care for Vampire Lovers (I think a clip from a Spanish dub of it shows up on a tv set in The Return of Count Yorga).
I really liked Hands of the Ripper and Sister Hyde, Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell was a decent conclusion for the series. I liked Twins of Evil, Vampire Circus and Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires. To The Devil a Daughter wasn't a bad movie, just suffered from pedestrian effects and direction. I did not like Demons of the Mind and Straight On Til Morning.
