I saw the OT like a year prior to TPM coming out so dunno if I should count, but I did not realise that Sidious was the Emperor I don't think, I think in the OT didn't they just refer to him as the Emperor?
I did however notice the moment we saw Palps that he was also Sideous because the lower part of his face is obviously the same, and well what he said as Sidious made it obvious given how the movie played out, I did not realise that Ian Mcdiarmid that's his name right? was the guy who played the Emperor in ROTJ though...then again I was 12 at the time and more interested in the laser swords.
