I mean, the whole chip thing is pretty absurd to begin with, but it's achieved a new low with how they went about removing Steve's chip. First, what the hell was the point of Kayla bringing Sarah in to assist her? Sarah didn't do anything, she was basically Kayla's cheerleader. That stupid countdown to self-destruct - for the love of God, why was anyone paid for writing this crap? That tiny microchip was about 10x louder than my phone on speaker.
And then there's Kayla's pity party about all the things she could have done differently, like bringing in a neurosurgeon - yeah, no shit! That only confirms the fact that neither Kayla nor Sarah are neurosurgeons, so why the fuck were they the ones doing it? People, like Jack, kept flattering Kayla; saying things like, "you're a highly skilled surgeon" and even if that's true, it's fucking brain surgery, you know, the thing that's always of the harder thing to do when compared to something else. The only way this could be worse is if Kayla had to perform brian surgery on Steve, in order for him to do some rocket science!
Then Jack stands there and tells Kayla that the rest of them would have done the same thing; and it conjures the image of Jack or Jennifer trying to perform the surgery and it making about as much sense. Hell, remember the time John used a pocket knife to dig a brain chip out of Hope in a bedroom at the Dimera Mansion?
And not one person who's had a chip removed has needed to shave their head or have it wrapped in a bandage after having their brain exposed. Although given these characters' history, I suppose it does make sense that any of their brain surgery could be done laparoscopicly....
