The 1992 season was always “who is going to beat the Broncos ?” - and very few sides did. The fact that Illawarra, Newcastle and Wests made the finals with seriously flawed sides is a testament to that. Then there were the bizarre semis. 3-2 and 4-0 ? Beattie was a vastly underrated player. Solid, consistent and a very good defender. Kinda like Paul Bowman before he was Paul Bowman. Beattie and Walford were my favourite players until Mark Coyne and Gordon Tallis hit their straps. Walford was spectacular and Beattie was as honest as the day is long.
