I re-watched "To Live and Die in L.A." recently, for the first time since its original theatrical release. I remembered little about it other than it was about a currency counterfeiter, and that I had liked it a lot. It held up pretty well, but I think The French Connection is a far superior movie.
One thing that made me laugh out loud: the cop has a partner who at the very beginning says that he is just days away from retirement. Naturally, he ends up dead shortly thereafter. I guess that wasn't a cliché back in the 80s!
