One of those movies that I remember seeing pictures of in old horror and fantasy movies books, pre-1980 when I was a teen. The Devil-Doll 1936. Two escaped prisoners escapes from a French prison, one is a mad genius and the other is a banker who was falsely imprisoned for a bank fraud, could be French Guyana, reaching the formers "workshop". Turns out that the mad genius, for the better of mankind, has come up with the brilliant idea of minimizing humans to doll size (think Barbie dolls size) there would be more food to feed the world. Well he dies, but the banker who is at first repulsive to the whole idea suddenly changes his mind and thinks he could use that to revenge on the bank embezzlers who sen't him in prison in the first place...once they move to Paris... It might have been very frightening and horrific movies once as audiences was not that used to optical effects (and CGI), what is impressive is the sets they built for this production, while real actors runs around, while incorporating mini actors and real life actors was more perfected in The Bride of Frankenstein. The old lady is Oscar winner Lionel Barrymore in drag.
