....New England time So.. Do not forsake me, oh, my darlin's On this, our quizzin' day Do not forsake me, oh, my darlin's Wait, wait along
I do not know what fate awaits me I only know I must be brave And I must face a man who hates me Or lie a coward, a craven coward Or lie a coward in my grave.
This will the Final Quiz of THIS type. I am hoping that everyone will "get into it" and make it a brisk quiz: I am aiming to get this quiz well finished by the end of the day (maybe even by early afternoon) so that we can concentrate on Matt's Saturday's Garth Game without crossing paths.. Quiz #7 will differ from the previous quizzes in that it will require 30 three-way matches rather than the usual 20. Summary After completing this final quiz, we will have explored 153 original screenwriters--with ~153 Oscared* Actresses and ~153 Oscared Actors that can be matched to each of the 153 Oscared Screenwriters (old and new). ( *Oscared means Oscar-nominated, the lingo that Matt has made popular during his Garth Games.)
Note: all screenwriters covered in the quizzes had to have written at least 2 original screenplays to have matching Oscared Actresses and Actors (with different titles for each). None of the performers have been duplicated during the 7 quizzes-- well almost none. I had to double up on 3 (meaning I used 3 performers twice to make make the quizzes work as they should. There was no Oscar awarded for Best Original Screenplay until 1940. So, everything starts there and ends with the last Academy Awards Ceremony. I think it is appropriate that Preston Sturges won the first Oscar in this category. I think--love him or hate him-- Woody Allen is probably the most prolific original screenwriter over his period of almost 80 years. In any case, I have tried to "mix up" the quizzes so that both old and current screenwriters were represented in each quiz. In other words, cover the complete span period of the Oscar nominations. I will try to get a Summary Post covering of all 7 quizzes with the 153 matches, but it won't be ready on Friday, because..it is a bigger project than I originally thought.
