I'm not a big fan of Denzel Washington - I find him quite a limited actor who comes across as smug most of the time - but he's certainly charismatic, and he is good in: A Soldier's Story, Malcolm X, Devil in a Blue Dress, Crimson Tide, Fences. Have you seen Glory, Cry Freedom, The Hurricane, Flight, For Queen and Country or Roman J. Israel Esq.? I agree he does basically the same thing in most of his action movies, but I think he is excellent in all of his dramas. I haven't seen The Hurricane or Cry, Freedom (actually I think I saw the latter, or most of it, years ago). Yeah, I worded that badly, I just woke up lol... he's a good actor, sometimes very good, but for me there's a sameness about most of his performances, even his stronger ones. He does certain things very well but seldom stretches himself out of his comfort zone. I certainly understand why he's a huge star, though - he has presence like few other contemporary actors.
