autumn, these facilities have multiple entry doors aside from the main entrance for staff, deliveries, and what-not. Even assuming the doors have keypads that require a code to be entered to prevent the door from being opened without sounding an alarm, the codes are usually easy to figure out (or observe from staff using the keypads), and they do not change the codes often enough. Elderly people are not all slow-moving, and if she did not set off an alarm when escaping, she could have gotten quite a ways before anyone noticed she was missing.
