It depends as two things immediately come to mind...
A)I think everyone deserves a basic level of respect unless they do something to really mess that up as you can't treat people like crap when they have not given you a reason to do so otherwise your the villain.
B)But if people mean respect on certain things etc, that's more of the type that has to be earned.
