There’s a local sports talk guy who when making his NBA player rankings has a list for centers and a list for everyone else. Are centers that unique in that they should be counted separately? Like goalies or pitchers? To me it’s just an excuse to have more guys in your top ten. Yeah I thought about this, it probably has to do with the personal bias of the guy making the list. I had to fight my own bias against big men when I made my list. I'm 6'0", so I relate more to guards and small forwards than I ever will to big men. Guys like Shaq or Kareem were so insanely dominant, but not particularly versatile in their skill set so it is tempting to view them as an entirely separate category. But at the end of the day, ball is ball. That's why I incorporated style of play and even mindset of the player (which to me is Kobe's biggest flaw, and ultimately what keeps him out of my top ten) into consideration when making my list.
