Hogan for Charisma. Jake Roberts for his promos. You could take all of Jake's promos and fill a phone book and create a philosophical way of life with them. Bret Hart and Shawn Micahels 4 duz werkrats! Savage for the promos, the charisma and the wardrobe. Legend has it that when Savage died they found trace amounts of blood in his cocaine, but it's just a rumor.
I thought it was a massive heart attack when he was driving his jeep.
Wiki says - which I was never aware of - there was a small amount of alcohol in his system and a prescription painkiller too.
Just my guess - I could be wrong - I think the enlarged heart could of come from steroid use.
When he was in Spider-Man - he was jacked beyond belief - like he didn't look like himself -
His brother claimed that Savage never messed with Cocaine but the preexisting heart condition could very well have been steroids. Savage said as much that he did roids back in the day but they were legal when he did them. I forget where he said that, it might of been Arsenio Hall.
Dude was jacked until the day he died, so it's open to conjecture if he was on something or simply was a workout freak. One story I heard was the reason Savage started wearing shirts in the later part of his WWF run was because of the looming steroid trials and he was paranoid (Savage was a well known paranoid among the other wrestlers) that he would get pinched as a steroid user.
For that matter. Hogan was noticeably deflated in 1992 right about the time he was heading out. When both guys made their way to WCW in the mid 90's both were looking jacked again. WCW was notorious for having a negligent back room atmosphere so they probably didn't have a damn clue who was popping what or cared.
Based on the stories of Macho Man in the past, the dude was in the character mode almost 24/7. This has led many to believe that the guy we saw on screen was really who Randy was, just cranked up to 11. The stories about him make it seem that he was like a method actor who fully adopted the character as his real persona.
