Another misconception. Archeology even shows that the Hebrew word “almah” refers to a virgin. The Septuagint, a Jewish translation of the Old Testament written in koine Greek which pre-dates Christianity also translates Almah as virgin.

People take which version suits their own wishes the most.

Go out in any street and ask people to complete the sentence 'Thou shalt not...?' I guarantee you nearly everyone will say kill, not murder.
