his filmography from the late 60s to the mid 80s was amazing. he worked with SCORSESE, DE PALMA, KAZAN, COPPOLA, BERTOLLUCI, LEONE, CIMINO and GILLIAM. he also worked with both MANN and TARANTINO - two of the best american filmmakers in the last 25 years. but the 21st century has seen him act in a string of turkeys. hopefully THE IRISHMAN will set things right. We've been waiting so long for 'The Irishman', it could turn out like Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Eli Wallach, Charles Durning & Billy Barty's get-together for 'Tough Guys' (1986). In the 21st century, with the Tribeca Foundation being his main aim, I do feel De Niro has still pulled one out the bag on occasion. I especially enjoy his projects with filmmaker David O. Russell - 'Silver Linings Playbook' (2012), 'American Hustle' (2013) and 'Joy' (2015). I also found 'The Score' (2001) quite enjoyable and neglected fantasy gem 'Stardust' (2007) is a must. they are using a deaging technique to make everyone look younger. but i think a lot of the film takes place with the main character (played by de niro) in his fifties. so it should be ok.
