It must have been three or maybe four years ago. The Toronto Zoo had a family of pandas on loan from China so we made the trip there (about 5 hours each way) over a long weekend. The pandas were not the only reason for the trip but they were definitely the main motivation for it.
How long were you there? Several hours. It is a nice, big zoo which I had never visited before, so we figured that we might as well make the most of it and see the whole thing.
What animals did you see? Lots of them. All the main ones were there - elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, hippos, bears, camels, gorillas, various monkeys.
Were any of the animals very active? The pandas were - at least the young ones. The adults, not so much. It was a joy to watch the two siblings playing. The other animals, some were, some were not.
Is the zoo you went to nice? Yes, it is a nice one, very spacious.
Did you eat anything while you were there? I don't remember specifically, but since we were there for several hours, we must have eaten lunch there.
Did you visit the gift shop? Did you buy anything? I am sure we did, but I don't think we bought anything.
Do you want to go back soon? Do you think you will go back soon? With the exception of this one occasion, this was the only time I went to a zoo in the past twenty+ years when it wasn't for the benefit of a child. I don't think it is likely that I will go to a zoo again soon unless I am in need of something to do with a visiting child.
Did the animals look happy? The young pandas definitely did. Some of the other animals, I guess so too. But I remember thinking that the tigers looked miserable, and I remember feeling depressed while looking at them.
