I think "zoos" in the "traditional" sense, such as cages, are so depressing and sad. When I think of sanctuaries and preservations, that definitely makes me much happier.  I went to a "zoo" only once as a little kid and even then, I just felt as trapped as the animals did. I used to live on a 300 acre farm that was also private land and marked off, reserved for wildlife that we maintained with no human foot traffic other than our border path for maintenance, not even to disturb the ground or plant life. I loved it.
