I can think of far more dead actors who make me swoon than I can of the current crop of live ones. Because the stars of yesteryear were real stars and household names and had star quality. Now the people you see in movies and tv shows feel like average joe's that could be bagging your groceries at the supermarket or making your sandwich at Subway. And not even particularly attractive or charismatic average joes at that. Acting at its best should exert something of a magical spell over the viewer, and most of today's breed couldn't even keep my eyes open, much less entrance me. |
