And not even particularly attractive or charismatic average joes at that. Acting at its best should exert something of a magical spell over the viewer, and most of today's breed couldn't even keep my eyes open, much less entrance me. I think that's why I prefer to watch classic TV and movies. When I see what's being mass-produced today, everything (and everyone) just looks the same, and feels the same. There's also often an over-reliance on CGI which often replaces solid acting performances. Not always, mind, but I really do like the charm of older movies. Yes because who wants to watch a movie that has actors that have less charisma than we do. |
