Mary Tyler Moore didn't look like Mary Tyler Moore, or not to my eyes anyway, bur it couldn't have been anyone else.
Mostly, due to the year (1973) Buddy Ebsen had to be Barnaby Jones, and many others as well, who had done other things but who had to look the way they did because it was 1973.
I was never one to watch wholesome rustic family shows, and most of the players didn't look enough like the characters they portrayed on The Walton,--but one glance, and Will Geer sold it.
