This^ reminds me of something I read about another certain director who felt that there always had to be something moving/going on in the background of scenes.
I think if your movie's captivating enough, you can hold the audience's interest with no movement going on in a scene - so long as they're invested it what they're watching. Some of the best actors can do a lot with very little. They could stay perfectly still, with no movement going on in a scene, yet still convey so much with just their facial expressions/eyes.
