Yeah, it's pretty well known that the fix was in as it would have been the exact week of the celebrations. mind you, the charts were easy to rig back then anyway, McLaren had a list of the (supposedly secret) chart returns shops as did most record pluggers and sent out loads of old women to buy copies of GSTQ.
