I’m not sure how others feel, but I don’t think the NBA should return this year. It just seems very unwarranted. For one, are the teams gonna all have to relocate to Orlando? If so, that seems like much more trouble than it’s worth. There’s a lot to consider like the cost of living. It’s not like the players will pay for themselves to live there nor should they.
Additionally (and more importantly) what effect is this gonna have on their bodies? They are coming off 3 months rest and are now gonna have to be in playoff mode going hard for a championship. It’s gonna be tough to just turn things on like that. Also, how will this effect next season? I know these playoffs run through October. So is it going to be like they crown a champion on a Friday and start pre-season 2020-2021 on a Monday? Many of these guys could end up playing for like a year straight with no off season.
Finally, how legitimate would this years NBA champion really be considered. Different playing locations, long months break in between playoff starts, etc. I don’t think the winner, in my opinion, could be held up in the same regards as in a traditional season.
Really I just think at this point they’d be better off scrapping the whole season and focusing on next season.
