James Best who starred in numerous films and television shows over his long career. Probably most famous for three episodes of The Twilight Zone ('Jess-Belle', 'The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank', 'The Grave') as well as his role as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazzard. That's not James Best actually playing the guitar, you can tell by the camera shots Best doesn't really play guitar. They probably just hired a professional and shot close-ups of his hands as he played. Still a fun episode, and Best is great in it. He was also in a couple of great Gunsmoke episodes. Now the episodes with the Darlings, those guys were the real thing. Played by the Dillards, a real bluegrass playing family. Apparently, the person playing was Barney Kessel. |
