Wild Child (2008) + The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017) = The Wild Manchild Who Invented Christmas.
It’s 1843, Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) is at an all-time low in his career. When he gets an idea for a Christmas story that he thinks will get him back on the road to recovery, he’s determined to self-publish it in less than a couple of months. However, when his parents (including his estranged father, who he still blames for ruining his childhood due to financial mismanagement) come to stay with him, this just adds to Charles’ stress and consequently he finds himself suffering from writer's block. This causes him to push away and make enemies of his friends/family. The only thing that can rein in the now brattish Dickens is him facing his own personal demons embodied by the characters he creates, particularly his conversations with Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), a character who is even more miserable than Dickens himself.
