Everybody burn your twenty dollar bills or else you are racist! Just today I was watching a movie in which Buster Keaton had a blackface. As a brown man it won't make even the slightest difference to me if one did brown face. I understand it is seen as something bad in today's time but we should not judge people of past based on today's standards. May be 100 years from now culture will change and people will find faults with us. Would we like to be declared bigot or racist or sexist or whatever. I can understand why black people are offended by blackface though. In America gay males are commonly stereotyped as effeminate queens. These stereotypes are passed off as endearing and lovable in media. The tv show Will & Grace is a great example. I detested those vomit-inducing freaks.
But even without blackface, American media still stereotypes the black man as a pimp and a criminal.
