I hated the last Halloween more than Zombie’s reboot. Not in the least bit bothered. I feel largely the same. I wouldn't say I hated it as much as Zombie's twin catastrophes but I thought it was pretty inept. I was hugely disappointed when I saw it on big screen and actually thought it was even worse when I gave it a second viewing about a year later. I'd much rather dust off HALLOWEEN II (1981) to watch an ongoing Myers story. No doubt I'll go see HALLOWEEN KILLS when it hits theatres but it wouldn't put me out in the slightest if that's a year away.............or ten! With me, I didn't enjoy Zombie's Halloween, but revel in his follow up Halloween 2.
I know I will probably end up going to see it too, if only out of curiosity, but I really didn't care for the dismissal of Halloween 2 - 81', to use it as a reason to reboot this convoluted franchise. That was a cheap cop-out and they made homages and references to all the Halloween's that came after Carpenter's original, even Zombie's ones and they needed to give the film a subtitle as well, not just call it Halloween.
