SciFiveI like Arrival, but it's nothing special for me. I gave it a 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up). I have seen Arrival (2016) twice so far (Jan 2017/Sep 2018). or I could say this to pretty much sums up things in the big picture for me in terms of scores... 6/10 or higher (my minimum score for a Thumbs Up(since this is the lowest score for me that's worth re-watching here and there)) = about 21% of everything I have seen. or it's like saying only 1 out of every 5 movies I have seen over the long term is worth re-watching here and there as the years pass. but I guess another way of looking at that 6/10 score is like saying it's better than at least 79% of everything I have seen. 6-6.5/10 (movies just shy of favorite movie status) = 34 movies. 7/10 or higher (my favorite movies) = 157 movies (or only 6.8% of everything I have seen. I have seen 2,300+ total movies.) so with that info... it puts into perspective on what I think of Arrival (2016). because most of what I have seen is pretty average (i.e. 5/10) as most of what I seen is decent enough not to have wasted my time but at the end of the day is not worth re-watching and like I always say, a movies true worth is whether I want to re-watch it here and there as the years pass or not. it's what determines my very basic Thumbs Down vs Thumbs Up... 5/10 or less = Thumbs Down (won't re-watch(with rare exception)). 6/10 or higher = Thumbs Up (will re-watch).
